Mahhwage . . . is what bwings us togevah today.
Rehearsal Dinner
What: Eat, drink, be merry, lavish Meg and Rahul with loving toasts. This is an open mic event, so all are welcome to join in with embarassing stories, advice, and roasts. But if your name is Philip Pearson, remember: what goes around, comes around, brothah. we're just sayin'.
When: Friday, October 10th, 7pm ~ 10pm. (Late-night carousing options abound for all you party animals.)
Where: The Mission Women's Building, 3543 18th St (between Valencia and Guerrero) in San Francisco's not-really-that-sketchy Mission District.
Transportation: BART and bus-friendly, taxis if you must, parking is absolutely terrible! If you're taking BART from the hotels, head down to the Montgomery BART station and take any train going to SF Airport, Millbrae or Daly City. Take the BART 3 stops to the 16th St./Mission station. Fare is $1.50. From the 16th St./Mission BART station, walk 1 block west on 16th Street to Valencia. Turn left and walk two blocks to 18th Street. Turn right on 18th and walk 1/2 a block to the Mission Women's Building!
Attire: Casual
On the Way to the Rehearsal Dinner: If you're looking for funky clothing and costumes for karaoke at the wedding, there's a great store close to the Mission Women's Building--Schauplatz on Valencia and 19th. It's open till 7 on Friday. It's also where we took some of our engagement shoot photos!
After the Rehearsal Dinner: The Rehearsal Dinner will be ending around 10pm, so right after, we're going to walk one block to the dance floor where we first became, ahem, more than friends--The Elbo Room on Valencia between 17th and 18th. They're having Free Funk Fridays that night, so we'll be able to get some drinks, shake some booty and relive the memories. Woohoo!
The Wedding Ceremony
What: The part where we get hitched
When: Saturday, October 11th, 4:30 pm. Don't be late, or you'll miss the clowns!
Where: The Montclair Women's Cultural Arts Club, 1650 Mountain Boulevard in the beautiful Montclair neighborhood of Oakland, CA! Outside. Yes, we realize that the rehearsal dinner and ceremony/reception are both at women's centers. To even things out, Rahul will see if he can find a men's club in San Francisco for Sunday brunch. We'll let you know how that goes.
Transportation: We'll be running biodiesel-fueled shuttles from the Orchard Hotel and the Orchard Garden Hotel in downtown San Francisco (466 Bush Street @ Kearny), so don't rent a car unless you're just dying to have one. One bus will pick up people staying at the Orchard Hotel at 3pm, and will then continue to the Orchard Garden Hotel (where the other bus will be waiting). So, anyone staying at the Orchard Hotel, catch the bus there at 3pm. Everyone else, head to the Orchard Garden Hotel. The buses will be leaving from the Orchard Garden Hotel at 3:15pm. Don't be late! (If you miss the bus, take the BART across the bay to the Rockridge Station, and take a cab to 1650 Mountain Boulevard in Montclair/Oakland).
Attire: Whatever makes you feel fabulous. We won't be in black tie, or any color tie for that matter. But if you want to go all red-carpet glam, go for it! We will be eating dinner outside, and while Oakland in October is likely to be balmy and beautiful, it's not a bad idea to bring a jacket or shawl, just in case the temperature drops a bit.
The Wedding Reception
What: For those of you thinking "Meg and Rahul, they'd never be soooo predictable that they'd have a massive karaoke rager at their weddding!," think again! Start singing in the shower now.
When: Saturday, October 11th, 5 pm - 11:30pm.
Where: Same location, you just have to make your way 50 feet inside, then head back outside for dinner, and then make a bee-line for the stage!!!
Transportation: We'll be running shuttles from the wedding back to the hotel at 8:30, 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30pm.
Attire: Costume changes and funny headgear encouraged/mandated.

If there are any stragglers on Sunday, there is a world-famous Burning Man street fair on Sunday, http://www.burningman.com/blackrockcity_yearround/special_events/decompression/decom2008.html#DECOMandments. Talk to Molly in the blue wig at the karaoke reception if you think you might be interested.
